Product Description

The IC697MEM733 is a 256 KB, 32-bit CMOS expansion memory designed for the Series 90-70. It is specifically required to provide logic and data memory for PLC CPU modules 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789. Installed as a daughter board, it occupies the same slot as the module it supports, eliminating the need for an additional slot.

Notable features of the IC697MEM733 include availability in multiple capacities: 128 KB, 256 KB (with 256 KB of non-volatile flash memory), 256 KB, and 512 KB. This memory expansion offers convenient configurability for both data and program storage.

In case of power loss, memory is preserved by the lithium battery (C697ACC701), which is strategically placed in the baseboard housing. Beyond maintaining user memory without power, this lithium battery also powers the PLC CPU’s calendar clock. When stored at 20°C (68°F), the battery has an expected shelf life of 10 years. Under typical conditions, memory retention can last up to 6 months without power. Flash memory remains intact during power loss, regardless of whether the battery is connected.

Important note: Always install a new battery before removing the old one. The PLC CPU continuously performs error checks on the logic program memory. Installation requires only a #1 Phillips screwdriver, making it easy for users to set up this memory expansion in the field.
