The IC697CHS782 is a 17 slot, rear mount VME integrator rack designed by GE Fanuc. The rack is designed for the IC697 programmable controller that can be used for third party VME modules as well as all IC697 CPU and I/O configurations excluding redundancy applications. When mounting the IC697CHS782 rack, adequate space must be left around the rack to allow for the cooling process of the module. There is a rack fan assembly that is offered for required air cooling.

The IC697CHS782 racks accommodate IC697 high density I/O modules and VME modules, which may have changing methods for connection of field devices. There is a succession of jumper positions located on the backplane that help provide flexibility for the two types of modules to be installed. The VME module types are in single slots, whereas the IC697 modules require two slots. The slots for the IC697 are identified by a number, arrow, and are branded as 1A-9A.

The IC697CHS782 rack mounts in a 10” enclosure intended to accept AC/DC plug in or can operate with an external power supply. A power supply adaptor module is necessary if using external source of power. Power requirements for two racks only need one power supply for many of the applications. The two-rack process using a single power supply can be applied if the second rack only requires +5-volt power of 5.2 amperes. There are interconnections needed that are provided with the use of an extension cable that is available by ordering. The extension cable joins to a 9-pin D type connector via a hole on the rack’s left side, which is located on the backplane. The rail located on the bottom of the rack is used for module shield grounding.

The IC697CHS782 rack is an integrator rack designed by GE Fanuc. This GE Series 90-70 rack has 17 slots in a rear-front configuration. The rack can connect to modules with 0.8-inch spacing. The rack can be integrated with different GE IC697 PLC modules. The rack is compatible with third-party VME modules and it can be integrated with CPUs, different I/O configurations, and other devices and applications. The integrator runs with backplane connectors that are placed on the 0.8-inch centers. The rack can allow for multiple rack operations with just one power unit. It has the ability to run high current configurations easily. The IC697CHS782 rack supports an optional fan assembly that can be used for high-power modules.

 

The mounting of the IC697CHS782 integrator rack must leave enough space for airflow for device cooling. The airflow should not be obstructed between the rack and the nearest ventilation source. This cooling method is known as convection cooling. The mounting requirements are created by the application and the ordered rack being used. The operators need to make proper use of the mounting flanges that play an important role in the installation and replacement of the rack. To configure the IC697CHS782 rack, a pair of jumpers are required on the backplane of the rack. These jumpers add flexibility to the module installation. The VME integrator rack can accept AC/DC plugs and operate easily with an external power supply. It offers slot addressing that allows the operators to configure the I/O points without using any extra accessories. The IC697CHS782 rack uses the bottom rail for the shield grounding. The ambient operating temperature range should match the specified device temperature range.
