The National Instruments PXIe-4353 is a PXI Temperature Input Module (Part Number: 781348-01) featuring 32 differential analog input channels dedicated to thermocouple measurements. It comes with 300 V analog input isolation, 2 auto-zero channels, and 8 cold junction compensation (CJC) channels, enabling high-accuracy temperature sensing across diverse industrial scenarios.
Integrated with a built-in TB-4353 isothermal terminal block—positioned between thermocouple terminals and CJC channels—the module ensures maximum conductivity for optimized performance. It adopts a scanned sampling mode and is equipped with a Delta-Sigma analog-to-digital (A/D) converter, delivering a maximum sample rate of 90 S/s.
Key electrical specifications include a ±80 mV voltage measurement range, 20 mega-ohms differential input impedance, and DC linearity of typically 20 ppm (maximum 60 ppm). The module offers software-selectable open thermocouple detection (OTD) functionality, configurable per module: input current is 17 nanoamperes when OTD is enabled, and 400 picoamperes when disabled. It also covers the full NIST temperature measurement range for enhanced versatility.
For common-mode operation, the module supports a ±10 V channel-to-channel voltage range, while the channel-to-earth ground voltage range is ±300 V. It boasts a 100 dB channel-to-common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) and incorporates overvoltage protection to safeguard against electrical anomalies.
The PXIe-4353 operates with NI-DAQmx driver software, compatible with popular application development environments and software packages including LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio.
Physically, the device weighs 4.9 oz and has dimensions of 6.3 x 3.9 inches. Its recommended operating temperature range is 0 °C to 55 °C, with a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 71 °C. A 15-minute warm-up time is advised for optimal performance, and annual calibration is recommended to maintain measurement accuracy.
