The 1771-ASBK is a conformally-coated universal remote I/O module from Allen Bradley. This module is conformally coated to ensure that it can withstand all kinds of hash and extreme exposures. The 1771-ASBK, over an I/O link, provides an interface between Input-Output modules in the 1771 Input-Output chassis and a PLC-5 processor’s remote scanner port. The module draws a current of 1 A at 5 Volts DC from the backplane. For troubleshooting and monitoring procedures, the module has three indicators on its front, including an Adapter fault, an I/O rack fault, and activity indicators. For communication, the module supports a DH+, Ethernet, or ControlNet network. It also supports adapter devices with 32 Input-Output points through the I/O link. The 1771-ASBK must be installed in the left-most slot on the 1771 I/O chassis where the modules are controlled by a PLC-5 system. The distance between the 1771-ASBK module and the processor should not exceed 2500 feet. This module provides 230.4 k baud backplane scan rate and accommodates the ½, 1 and 2-slot addressing. To improve on the I/O image space savings and scan time, the 1771-ASBK module scans all the slots but avoids four of the lastly scanned. The 1771-ASBK can be mounted on either a 4-slot, 8-slot, 12-slot, 16-slot or the 32-slot Input Output chassis. Its universally remote nature reduces the cabling, maintenance, and installation costs. The 1771-ASBK supports serial communication but reads and writes data in a parallel format. It provides a communication rate of either 115 Kbps, 230 Kbps, or 57.6 Kbps, and requires a remote adapter port for connection. This 1771-ASBK module is marine certified.
