The GE Fanuc IC697CPM915 is a single-slot programmable CPU module, designed to control material handling systems, industrial machines, and manufacturing processes. Configuration of the IC697CPM915 can be completed using software compatible with Windows or MS-DOS platforms.
Programming the CPU is achievable via two methods: over an Ethernet connection or through the SNP port. Notably, utilizing Ethernet for programmer connections requires the installation of an optional Ethernet module. For internal communication, the IC697CPM915 interacts with option modules and I/O components via the rack backplane, adhering to the VME C.1 standard format.
This module is fully compatible with specific GE Fanuc racks, including the IC697CHS750, IC697CHS782, IC697CHS783, IC697CHS790, and IC697CHS791. A key installation requirement is that the IC697CPM915 must be mounted exclusively in slot 1 of the rack. Operational control of the module is dual-purpose: it can be managed locally via the built-in RUN/STOP switch, or remotely through a programmer connected to the RS-422/RS-485 serial port on the CPU module.
The IC697CPM915 CPU module features four green LEDs, which provide real-time visibility of the CPU’s operational status. Under its hood, it is equipped with a 32 Megahertz processor that supports floating-point operations, alongside 1 Megabyte of user memory. To protect stored user data, a lithium battery is integrated into the module—this battery enables nominal memory retention for up to 6 months when power is disconnected from the PLC rack. System firmware, meanwhile, is stored in flash memory for reliable, long-term preservation.
Engineered specifically for use with GE Fanuc Series 60-70 PLC systems, the IC697CPM915 has a nominal current consumption of 2.8 Amps from the 5 Volts DC bus. A wide range of option modules is compatible with this CPU, including all IC697 LAN modules, multiple coprocessor modules, and bus controllers designed for the IC660, IC661 I/O, and IC697 families of analog and discrete I/O modules.
