The GE Fanuc IC660BSM021 Bus Switching Module (BSM) is a dual-bus switching device engineered to simultaneously connect Genius I/O Block devices to two serial buses. Part of the GE Fanuc Genius I/O product family, it delivers reliable serial bus connectivity while serving as a backup communication path in the event of a primary bus failure.
A single IC660BSM021 module can support up to 8 discrete and analog I/O blocks on one serial bus. For applications requiring more connections, additional BSM modules can be installed to expand the total capacity to 30 Genius I/O blocks. The module’s functions are controlled by a Genius I/O block within the cluster configuration and configured via either a handheld monitor or CPU programming.

The IC660BSM021 can be configured to switch between its two buses (Bus A and Bus B) using a handheld monitor or the host CPU. Electrical specifications vary by active bus: when Bus A is active, the module operates with a voltage rating below 4VDC, drawing a maximum current of 10.0mA at 24.0VDC and 30.0mA at 48VDC; when Bus B is active, it operates within a 18VDC to 50VDC range.

Boasting a minimum reliability rating of 500,000 operations, the IC660BSM021 features a switch activation time of less than 20 milliseconds. The module is supplied as a factory-assembled package, which includes a 24/48VDC bus switching module, three 15-inch prefabricated cables, and a Genius I/O system user manual.
