The IC697MEM735 is a dedicated CMOS expansion memory module engineered by GE Fanuc Automation, and it is a core component of the Series 90-70 programmable controller portfolio. Available in four distinct configurations, the module offers a range of memory capacities: 128 KB, 256 KB (with integrated 256 KB non-volatile flash memory), standalone 256 KB, and 512 KB.

Optimized for compatibility with GE 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789 CPUs, the IC697MEM735 eliminates the need for additional chassis slots during installation. It ensures persistent data retention for the host CPU via an onboard lithium battery, which prevents loss of user memory in the event of power disruption and maintains the accuracy of the PLC/CPU’s integrated calendar clock. For battery replacement, it is recommended that the new lithium battery be installed prior to removing the old unit, to avoid any interruption to memory or clock functionality.

As a 32-bit CMOS expansion memory module, the IC697MEM735 boasts a 10-year shelf life when stored at the optimal temperature of 20°C (68°F). Under conditions of power outage, it provides nominal memory retention for up to 6 months. Compliant with VME standards, the module has a combined current rating of 2.25 A for the expansion memory board and the host CPU module.

Installation of the IC697MEM735 must be performed exclusively by qualified technical personnel, in strict accordance with the procedures outlined in the manufacturer’s official instruction manual.
