The IC697CPX782 is a high-performance CPU module engineered for seamless integration with GE Fanuc Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). It is equipped with 1 MB of battery-backed RAM for volatile data storage and 256 KB of non-volatile memory for persistent program and configuration retention, and it supports the BMA (Backup Memory Access) feature in firmware release 7.92 and later versions.

Powered by an 80486DX4 microprocessor operating at a clock speed of 96 MHz, the module delivers exceptional processing efficiency, with a Boolean instruction execution time of just 0.4 microseconds. It boasts robust I/O handling capabilities, supporting a maximum of 8,000 analog I/O points and up to 12,000 mixed I/O points to accommodate large-scale industrial control applications. The IC697CPX782 also enables convenient in-system firmware upgrades, eliminating the need for module removal during maintenance and version updates.

Configuration of the module is implemented via computer-based software, with communication established through either Ethernet or serial connections. For Ethernet-based programming access, a compatible Ethernet interface module must be installed in the PLC chassis. For serial communication, the module features three integrated serial ports with distinct protocol support:

Port 1: Supports RS-232 communication, requiring a standard serial cable for device connection;
Ports 2 and 3: Support RS-485 communication, necessitating a suitable converter for interfacing with compatible equipment.

The front panel of the IC697CPX782 is fitted with five LED indicators, three of which provide real-time visual feedback on serial port activity for simplified troubleshooting. The module’s backup battery has a shelf life of 5 years when stored at 20°C, ensuring long-term reliability of battery-backed memory. It draws a nominal current of 3.1 A from the 5 V DC backplane bus and operates reliably within a recommended temperature range of 0°C to 60°C.
