The IC693CMM321 is an Ethernet interface module integrated into the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform. Its primary function is to establish a direct connection between a Series 90-30 baseplate and an existing Ethernet network, enabling the deployment of distributed I/O architectures as well as facilitating data communication between local CPUs, communication adapters, remote stations, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Equipped with a versatile set of communication ports to support diverse operational tasks, the IC693CMM321 features three distinct interfaces: one RS-232 serial port with an RJ-11 connector, serving as the Station Manager Port; one RS-485 serial port with a 15-pin D-type connector, designated as the Software Loader Port; and one AAUI port, which functions as the Network Port for Ethernet network connectivity. To enable real-time operational monitoring, the module is fitted with a suite of LED indicators—specifically OK, LAN, SER, and STAT. These indicators respectively convey the module’s overall operational status, data traffic activity on the transceiver and downloader ports, and the occurrence of any exception events.
For full functional capability, the IC693CMM321 is optimally paired with a CPU running version 6.50 or later firmware. While it is compatible with CPUs ranging from version 5.03 to 6.04, Ethernet functionality will be restricted to a single SRTP server connection in such configurations. Module configuration can be accomplished using one of several programming software packages installed on a host computer, including Logicmaster 90-30 (v6.01 or later), Control (v2.01 or later), and VersaPro (v1.0 or later).
As a TCP/IP-enabled Ethernet interface module for the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC, the IC693CMM321 supports three key operational capabilities: PLC system diagnostics and maintenance, data transfer initiation from the PLC to connected devices, and simultaneous multi-device communication with support for up to 16 server connections. A maximum of 1–2 units of this module can be installed on any Series 90-30 baseplate. It should be noted that the IC693CMM321 is not compatible with handheld programmers from the GE Series 90-30, 90-20, and Micro product lines.
