The GE Fanuc IC660BBA103 is a Genius I/O block specifically designed as a thermocouple input module. It is capable of accepting signals from a diverse range of thermocouple sensors and millivolt-level voltage signals. Specifically, the module supports direct wiring of Type J, K, T, E, B, R, S, and N thermocouples to its input channels, and is also compatible with millivolt signals ranging from 25.0 mV to +150 mV for voltage measurement applications. The module is configured with six input channels, which are logically grouped into three sets, with each set comprising two individual input channels.
 
In terms of voltage measurement performance, the module delivers an accuracy of 8 Hz at 25 °C, with a typical resolution error of ±10 µV and a maximum error of ±20 µV. It is equipped with an input amplifier filter featuring a typical drift rate of ±2 µV per °C. For thermocouple-based temperature measurement, the module’s performance is contingent on the type of cold junction compensation employed. When utilizing internal cold junction measurement, the module offers a temperature range of 0–60 °C with a resolution of less than ±0.01 °C. When configured with external cold junction measurement, the operating range extends to -25–+150 °C while maintaining a resolution of ±0.01 °C.
 
The IC660BBA103 thermocouple input block has a typical data update time of 2.0 seconds and a maximum update rate of 3.0 seconds. It can detect open-wire connection faults in less than 5.0 seconds, and supports a comprehensive suite of diagnostic functions including open-wire detection, overrange, underrange, high alarm, low alarm, and internal fault identification.
 
The module is fitted with status LED indicators for Unit OK and I/O Enabled to facilitate real-time operational status monitoring. It provides robust electrical isolation with a 1500 V rating for block-to-block isolation and 300 V for group-to-group isolation, and operates on an external power supply of 115 VAC or 125 VDC.
 
Integrating a full set of core functionalities, the IC660BBA103 thermocouple input block is engineered to perform temperature measurement, signal filtering, amplification, voltage-to-frequency conversion, and cold junction compensation. Its built-in diagnostic capabilities include open-wire detection, which is used to identify faulty connections in thermocouple wiring. Thermocouple wires can be conveniently connected to the six input channels via same-alloy connector-type crimp pins, with proper attention to polarity during installation. A handheld monitor can be used to configure the module, and its dedicated configuration protection mode prevents unauthorized or accidental modifications to the module’s settings.
