The AC servo motor SGDH-04AE is manufactured by Yaskawa for their line of Sigma II servo motor modules. The SGDH SERVOPACK controls several aspects of the servo system including control of speed, position and torque. The servo pack has built in digital operator capabilities.
For speed control, the Yaskawa servo module SGDH-04AE is the analog reference for voltage speed. Position control is achieved through pulse train position reference. Position control is done with pulse reference. Torque control is through analog reference, accepting analog voltage torque reference.
The built-in digital operator uses a panel indicator and switches both located on the front of the unit. The digital operator is used for several functions. It is used for setting parameters, referencing operations, and it shows a display of the status.
There are several key functions on the servo pack. The RESET key will reset the servo alarm when pressed. The DSPL/Set key is used to select the status display mode. It also displays auxiliary function mode as well as parameter setting mode and monitor mode. This is also the key you press for data selection when setting your parameters. Next is the DATA/ENTER key which is used to set each parameter. It also is the key to set value of each parameter. Value change/JOG key has an up cursor and a down cursor to use to either increase or decrease the set value. The up-cursor key is used to forward start in JOG operation. The down cursor is pressed for reverse start in JOG operation. The digit select key has right and left cursor selections. By pressing the digit select key, the number flashes and you can use the right and left cursors to choose the correct digit. The last key is the SVON key. It is used to perform JOG operation with the digital operator.
The Yaskawa servo motor is a mechanism that does a couple of things. It is able to find an object in a specified position. It is also able to move at a given speed.
How to use the SGDH-04AE:
For speed control a host controller forms a position control loop and compares a position reference with a feedback signal about the position and sends the speed reference info to the servo pack. The host then relinquishes control, and the servo pack takes on the control processing. For torque control the host sends out a torque reference to the servo pack while receiving pulse information from the servo pack. It uses the information to monitor the position. For position control, the servo pack gets a position reference (pulse train) from the host controller to perform positioning. To connect to the host controller, a CN 1 connector is needed.
